Every Christmas there would be one evening when my Mum would invite a bunch of her friends over for a games night. We'd have a buffet and play boardgames for a few hours and Nana was always keen to join in. One year she mentioned her great love of whist and one of my Mums friends took great delight and teasing her and saying "it's just bridge" which Nana took great offense too. She then launched into a long tirade of the differences between the two. Shortly after that she announced she was off to bed while the rest of us carried on playing different things. Obviously though her brain had never been able to let go of the mortal insult to her favourite pastime. So it was a bit of a surprise to us all when, over an hour, later she burst back into the room and declared - "AND ANOTHER THING ABOUT WHIST......" I have no idea to this day what the other thing was as the whole room just burst into laughter. We thought she'd been asleep for ages but it was really just the worlds biggest dramatic pause until she flung open the door with whatever trump card she had brewed up.
